Dangerous Beauty - Medusa
Dangerous Beauty - Medusa
Acrylic on canvas
Dimensions: 23 x 30 x 1.5cm
This piece was inspired by Greek Mythology, in particular Medusa - also known as the Dangerous Beauty.
What intrigued me about Medusa was the fact that she was so beautiful, even the gods fell in love with her.
After being turned into a monstrous gorgon, it was said that anyone who looked into her eyes would turn into stone. In this piece, I wanted her beauty to shine through.
Nowadays Medusa can be seen as a symbol for survivors, and it is something that they can resonate with. She represents strength, power of overcoming and healing.
This is one of my favourite paintings that I have produced because of the many emotions that are being portrayed such as fear, curiosity and sadness. You can see her innocence and her beauty radiating through the painting, and she looks even more beautiful in the golden hours of the day.
